We strongly condemns the US military invasion and the violation of Venezuela’s sovereignty
The brutal attack of the quasi-fascist US government on Venezuela’s national sovereignty, and the kidnapping of the country’s Head of State, in a bloody battle, like other unpredictable actions of this kind by the head of the US government, has plunged the world into massive shock at how world security and international legal order continues to be sacrificed, in the interest of imperialist forces. To advance its profits, and under spurious excuses, US imperialism has attacked an independent state and official member of the United Nations, as it has invaded other independent states, damaging their lawful governing structures, interfered in their internal affairs, and has even murdered their leaders, or taken them hostage and removed them from the country.
In the not-too-distant past we witnessed the brazen attacks of US imperialism and its accomplices, such as the attack on Iraq which was started under the pretext of Iraq having weapons of mass destruction – a claim that was officially proved by the UN to have been a lie. Today we witness in bewilderment, its bullying tactics and the violation of the national sovereignty of Venezuela, under another false pretext, ‘the fight against drug trafficking and terrorism’. While Trump and his accomplices have repeatedly directly or indirectly spoken about the control of Venezuela’s oil reserves, Trump’s new statements about taking on Venezuela’s interim administration until a ‘judicious transition’ exemplify the naked evidence of the rule of might and the law of the jungle in international relations, and the violation of legal and international norms.
Recently, the growing struggle of the people of our country against the authoritarian regime of political Islam and the unbearable economic conditions has intensified, and even though the national and progressive forces have repeatedly announced that they would condemn any kind of foreign interference in determining the fate of our country, Trump has taken the liberty to threaten to interfere in the affairs of Iran. This brazen threat works to the detriment of the popular uprising in our country and is uttered only with the intention of securing the imperialist interests of Trump and his allies in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East, while the people of our country have repeatedly expressed their disgust with any kind of foreign interference.
The Democratic Organisation of Iranian Women declares its solidarity with the women and the heroic people of Venezuela and strongly condemns the violation of the national sovereignty of any country and regards such violation as a threat to the security and peace of the world with the potential for disastrous consequences that claim as victims the women and children, foremost. We believe that the people and progressive and peace-loving forces of the world must unite and unanimously condemn these fascistic actions and expose the ugly face of warmongering imperialism and its accomplices.
