The stability of Iran depends on peace and the rejection of the dictatorship of Velayat-e faquih

With the winning of presidential election by Trump in United States, certain significant changes were imposed in the US policies in international arena, the most important of which are the increase in the warmongering policies and in increasing tension and ignoring the international laws and conventions, which has moved the world situation closer to insecurity and direct and proxy wars. This situation has faced Iran, like many other countries in the world, with the danger of war.

Trump who presently is leading the ultra-right and neo-fascist forces, along with his allies in the South America and Middle East, is aiming at military interventions and regime changes and Iran in particular, is one of the scenarios on his agenda.

The truth is that beside the Trump’s military threats, the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran also, by unprincipled and radical stance, practically facilitate the tensions. In the Middle East, due to the presence of the reactionary and neo-fascist forces such as Israel and Saudi Arabia and their bigger or smaller allies, and also the reactionary regime of Iran, such a situation has been created that with the smallest mistake and a spark, the flames of a vast war could flare, in which, for sure, there are the ordinary people who will lose more than all others.

In the modern wars which usually takes place away from the battle fields and draws more toward the villages and the cities, the children and women suffer more casualties and according to the statistics, upto 90% of the victims are civilians. The women and the girls, just like the men, are killed, injured, disabled and tortured. They are displaced away from their homes and are deprived of food and other necessities. Furthermore, many women due to losing their husband and having no backing, have to face many difficulties such as taking over the family guardianship, finding a job and supplying the necessities for the kids and the relatives. Beside all these, the vast migration of the people to the new places affects every member of the society and the social structure and the families are usually destroyed, the traditional believes and manners lose their meaning and the human rights are severly violated.

What happened to the women of Iran in the Iran-Iraq war is only a small example of the catastrophic consequences of the war against women and children. When the country, just like today, was facing economic difficulties, the limited economic resources which should have been used for rebuilding the economic infrastructure, were directed to the battle fields, and the cities and the villages were facing the rationing of the scarce living necessities, the inflated prices and the hoarding. The cities and villages were destroyed with uninterrupted bombings and the women, children and the elderly were injured or killed. In the frontier cities, women were raped and many of them escaped to other cities. At the same time, the regime’s incompetence in economic affairs and the lack of a suitable plan to support the refugees and rising poverty and hunger, forced many women into prostitution to supply the necessities for themselves and their families.

Women are not only the casualties of war. Due to the difficult situation they live in, they are always in the center of the struggle for peace and against the war and it is very important that the opinion and role of the women be considered in this struggle. But unfortunately, usually, especially in the underdeveloped and reactionary countries, not only the women are not given any role to play in the peace affairs, but their opinions are also ignored. In Iran, the women, despite all the many limitations that are facing, have been in the forefront of struggle for peace and freedom and have fought for tranquillity and human rights.

In the research done by many international organizations and institutions, the relation between the women rights and the lasting peace have been increasingly mentioned. With all this, the formal peace negotiations take place without the participation of women and even the women who play active role in rebuilding the economy and the civil society, during the war and after, are being marginalized.

The main core of many violent clashes in the world is related to inequality, injustice and deprivation and many governments try to hide their economic, political and social crises behind the “war situation” curtain. The “war situation” have been a “God give gift” for the leaders of the Islamic Republic and in this situaton they have been able to suppress any opposing and right seeking voices and in the core of them the voices of groups, organizations and the opposition political parties.

In order to tackle the military threats, the military forces can establish themselves in the battle fields and under this smoke screen, blame the “situation” for all the difficulties, but they cannot resolve the fundamental political, social and economic difficulties or bring about peace.

The danger of war for Iran can be imminent or a problem in the future, but practically, the possibility is that by magnifying the guise of “war and sensitive situation”, Regime of the Supreme Religious Leader (Velayat-e Faqih) intensify the supression of the people and the democratic forces. This will definitely create a catastrophic situation worse than the one Iran is dealing with presently.

Therefore, mobilizing the people against these policies and creating peace campaigns, at the present circumstances, is one of the most imminent tasks facing the progressive forces in Iran. In this struggle, the role of the women as one of the main groups which suffer the most from the war and the war situation, is important and decisive. Iran, due to the anti-democratic function of the Regime of the Supreme Religious Leader (Velayat-e Faghih) and also the ultra-right and neo-fascist Trump’s government is facing a dangerous situation and stopping the adventures of the two regimes and start of a new war in the region, is not only an important task facing the Iranian people but also requires an international campaign. Beginning of a war against Iran in a region that instability and tension among different countries in the Middle East have created an explosive situation, can create an irrecoverable human and environmental disaster.

The way out of the present catastrophic situation and creating stability depends on the unremitting struggle for lasting peace and at the same time, for rejecting the religious dictatorship in Iran. In this path, only the people of Iran can determine their destiny and the US imperialism and its internal and external allies should not be allowed to open the way to their presence in Iran.
